The Department of Orientation and Counseling carries out a number of functions within the scope of social and behavioral guidance as well as psychological counseling to the students. The Departments works to raise students’ awareness and refine their personalities through which it provides services, programs and, and organizes functions throughout the academic year. The Department also supervises the implementation of the internal rules and regulations of the University and ensures the establishment of a healthy environment for the students. The department establishes the following two units: Psychological Counseling and Social Guidance
The Psychological Counseling Unit works side by side with the Social Guidance Unit to follow up on the psychological and personal problems of the students which hinder the academic achievement, as the division helps them to overcome their psychological problems, whether as a result of academic constraints or causing a decrease in their academic achievement through providing individual or group counseling services, as well as specialty advice. The division organizes a number of developmental programs aiming to develop the character of the students and provide them with necessary skills to solve problems.
On the other hand, Social Guidance Unit carries out functions related to social guidance through social specialists and counsels at the University campuses, such as Eastern Campus and Mabui Campus. The Unit follows up on problems faced by the students and helps them to overcome such problem in order to enable them to successfully meet the requirements of their studies. The social guidance staff works to perceive the needs of the students and provide them with necessary guidance services to facilitate the process of their studies, and they motivate students to actively participate in programs and functions. Moreover, the unit seeks to engage students in volunteer work under the supervision of the Department. The unit also organizes various orientation and guidance programs for students with an ambition to improve their personalities as well as to develop their capabilities.
